How soon can you use a different kind of ammonia detox in fish tank?

On Sunday after doing a 25% water change I started using Tetra Aqua's ammonia detox, and after following the directions (use for 3 days) the ammonia levels in my fish tank are still too high. I would like to use a fluval ammonia remover that you hang from your filter. So I am wondering how long after using the one detox do I have to wait to use another. The kind I'm planning on using stays in the tank so I wanna make sure that it isn't too much, but at the same time I realize that I have to get the ammonia under control

Simple answer, change the water. That tips the ammonia down the drain.

It's only a temporary fix untill your tanks cycle gets established properly. But you can change part of the water every day if you need to.

The Ammonia Detox, as the name suggests, will not remove ammonia, it just converts it to less toxic ammonium. It still shows on the tests, but it's less harmfull to the fish.

The fluval filter media actually absorbs ammonia. Problem with using that is, if you suck all the ammonia out of the water then you will never get your tanks cycle working. When the ammonia absorber gets used up, the ammonia builds up again.

So do extra water changes to keep the ammonia level down, a bit of the detox will make life easier for the fish, and wait a couple of weeks. It should all settle down.
