Is there anyone who has PCOS but does not have the overweight or facial hair symptoms?
I was "diagnosed" with PCOS when I was 16 years old simply based on the fact that I had irregular periods and my mother and sister have PCOS (confirmed by ultrasound)
I am at an extremely healthy weight, and have no problem with body hair anywhere that it shouldn't be...so my doctor and I have started to question this diagnosis but I am wondering if there are people who have this diagnosis whoare not overweight?
My sister is one of the few. She is a very healthy weight with no facial hair (or other male hair growth) but has PCOS confirmed by ultrasound. Now she doesn't have alot of cysts but enough that she is not ovulating. She is on metformin. I asked my doctor about this since I was having trouble conceiving and thought maybe I had it too and she said it is rare for a women to have PCOS without the typical symptoms but is possible. Hopefully for you, it is not true. 16 is a little early based only on irregular periods. I have them and am not PCOS so we can't all be lumped together I guess! Good luck!
