Knee Support
Looking for the worlds best knee brace/support?
I had a cartilage operation back in 1978 and also had some ligament damage which was never repaired. This leaves my knee weak when doing exercise etc... I would like to find the best knee brace/support (available online or in the USA). I have tried a few inexpensive ones that slide around or stop blood flow or just don't give much support, can anyone suggest one (no matter the cost)that has worked the best for them.

the best support is a reconstructed ligament. period.
if you have symptoms not controlled by muscle strenthening, please get it done- it may already be too late

Elastic wrap around knee braces are good, but they usually come with more straps than a sleeve and they do allow for a little more adjust-ability compared to what a sleeve can offer.
Basically, these kinds of knee supports are for mild knee pain or instability problems. You do not want to get an elastic knee brace for a severe MCL, meniscus, or ACL injury. This would not help you enough, but it would probably be better than nothing.
2.) Hinged Knee Braces
When you are getting a hinged knee brace then you will be investing in a support that will start to control more motion. These kinds of braces, although they come in different kinds, can help to control front to back and side to side motions much better than an elastic style knee brace. Just remember that the more severe the knee injury, the large the hinge and upright usually are, to help control more motion.
3.) Knee Support Myths
Many people will think that a knee support will not allow them to move at all. This is not true. Although, sometimes it will be in a person's best interests not to move their knee, there are many supports that do allow for a lot of range of motion. - Other people will tell you that knee supports are big and heavy.
