High blood pressure may not be easily detected unless you have your equipment, but it does cause a lot of serious health problems. It can often lead to heart failure, stroke, heart attack, kidney failure that may lead to death. But you can control it and it may only take some lifestyle changes and some exercises for high blood pressure.

Exercising is indeed a great way to live a healthier lifestyle. Of course, along with it should be healthy food and eating habits. If you have hypertension, you can actually find ways to control and deal with it. There are exercises that can help a lot in lowering down and take care of your symptoms. Working out can indeed help if you want to maintain a normal pressure, regular exercise plays a big role.

Exercising can indeed bring in good benefits aside from reducing pressure. From a healthy heart, you can also benefit a lot more things from regular exercise including the maintenance of healthy weight or losing excess weight if you are having weight problems which can also add up to your circulation problems, and of course strengthening your heart.

The best exercises for high blood pressure are aerobic exercises. These are exercises that improves the use of oxygen in the cardiovascular system as well as in the body's metabolism and in the many processes occurring in the body. Among the best aerobic exercises for high blood pressure are brisk walking, jogging, cycling, swimming and dancing. If you are hypertensive though, you have to consult your physician before engaging into physical activities such as these.

Walking is the simplest you can do to get started. Regular walking 30 minutes in a day can indeed make good improvements in your health and normalize your blood pressure. Brisk walking along with proper breathing helps a lot in your quest to stay hypertension-free in the long run, for as long as you do it regularly.

You can also use the treadmills if you can't go outdoors. Swimming is also a great aerobic exercise which also helps in the proper circulation of blood. Even those exercises of moderate intensity such as dancing and enjoying your favorite sports are also great to reduce pressure of your blood in the long run, for as long as you continue to do them regularly.

Even if you are in perfectly normal health or you are not hypertensive, regular exercise is still recommended to prevent high blood pressure as you go older. Remember too that you can't just do strenuous exercises now hoping to lower down your pressure forever. You have to do regular exercise to keep your from rising, and you don't have to make it strenuous. Moderate exercise can be effective as well, for as long as you do it regularly.

Aside from these aerobic exercises, yoga and breathing exercises can also help in dealing with hypertension. Of course, apart from doing physical activities and these exercises for high blood pressure, it is also a big factor to keep a healthy lifestyle.

How could an individual have high blood sugar levels and also be in a state of ketosis?

How could an individual have high blood sugar levels and also be in a state of ketosis? How/why could this occur?

High blood sugar is a result of not getting enough insulin. The longer you go without enough insulin, the higher your blood sugar gets, until you go into ketoacidosis.

Is this what you mean or are you referring to a low carb diet ketosis?

If you are diabetic, you could end up having both ketones in your urine and high blood sugar at the same time. When you don't have enough insulin, or your body can use it properly, you end up burning fat instead of sugar. The sugar builds up in your bloodstream, and so do the ketones, so you produce ketones in your urine sample at the same time as you have high blood sugar.

Get tested for diabetes if you haven't already done so. Ask for an HbA1c test and an Glucose Tolerance Test.

Good luck!

about vibrating belts... the ones that help you loose weight? Did you buy one? How did it work for you? Did you loose centimeters or inches off your targeted area?

I'm asking again, cuz no one answered it when I first asked. Here's why I'm asking:

I'm not thinking about buying one. (I'm healthy at 110 pounds, thank you.) But I saw a magazine article (From JJ, japanese fashion mag) reviewing different bizarre ways to loose weight from piercing ears to eating tomatoes at night to sitting in a chair that vibrates. Each girl did this for 2 weeks and didn't change any of their other habits.
The girl who used the vibrating chair only lost 1 pound but lost 3 cm off her hips. Another girl used both a self massaging technique followed by a personal rolling massager called the "Slim Cera". She lost 3.5 lbs and 4.5 cm off her waist.

What do you say for your vibrating belt if you've bought one?

i was thinking to buy it but i rather to go a true hands massage which is effectively in every part of the body...if i can not afford then i massage myself with a special cream depending of my desire body type.

Account limit of 2124 requests per hour exceeded.

The Fitness Industry thrives on selling you the latest pill or gadget "guaranteed" to deliver dramatic results with little to no effort on your part. There hundreds of claims about diets that "worked for me when nothing else would." These are all tactics used by the diet industry to sell you one thing, Hope. Hope that this will be the one thing that solves your weight issues. But the truth is that diets are not the quick fix, exercise gadgets are not the miracles they are portrayed as and there is no "miracle diet pill" that flushes away the fat.

With few exceptions, gaining excess weight comes from one thing. Consuming more calories than the body burns. And with the cheap fast food available in the US, it is easy to overeat. We have been slowly conditioned to eat and drink bigger portions of food over the years. Coke originally came in a 6oz. bottle, now you can get a 1 liter (33oz.) bottle. Fries use to have only 1 size, small - now, in some fast food restaurants, small does not even exist anymore. And burgers have increased in size as well. What use to be a sold was a burger - meat patty, ketchup, pickles and mustard has now changed to 2 or more patties, double cheese, bacon and a high calorie dressing. And everything is processed, made with white flour and sugar. The more a food is processed, the fewer nutrients that are left in it.

Now the trick is to avoid the myths that have been keeping the pounds on you. You have a few choices as far as losing weight. Exercise is great for you body and even in small increments has been shown to improve health. But, you don't need to exercise to lose weight, you only need to consume fewer calories than your body burns.

You can't blame your metabolism for gaining weight. It is a myth to believe that your metabolism slows down around the age of 30. Metabolism is based on how much muscle and body mass you have. As we age, most people tend to do less activity and lose muscle tissue. And the loss of muscle tissue is directly related to how many calories your body needs each day.

It is a myth to believe that pasta and bread pack on the pounds. Any food is fattening if you over indulge. But pasta and bread have one negative trait that many other foods don't have, white flour and sugar. These two are a one two punch when it comes to blood sugar levels. Both will spike your blood sugar levels quickly and then bring them crashing back down, leaving you hungry again in just a few hours.

It is a myth to believe that eating at night will make you fat. It is not the time of day that packs on the pounds, it is the amount of food eaten. Night time eating usually is a unhurried meal for most people. That gives them time to eat more. During the course of the work day, meals times are often limited or skipped all together, leaving you starving by the end of the day, making you prone to over eating at night.

It is a myth that obesity is genetic and you can't do anything about it. There are factors that can be reduced to lower your chances of becoming overweight. Weight gain in general can be partially attributed to factors such as overeating, automation replacing manual labor, and a decline in exercising. To defy any genetics that may be a factor in your weight, begin a consistent fitness program and maintain a proper diet.

The key to overcoming or avoiding excess weight is education and putting that education into action. Excess weight is normally caused by eating too many calories. Eating less or building muscle to burn calories is really the only options that truly work. Weight loss pills may aid your weight loss, but if they were the "miracle" they claimed to be, how come they all ways have a disclaimer about using the pills in conjunction with proper diet? Or they come with a diet plan?

Tinea versicolor is light white so in the winter and fall, no one can really see it.. However, when the sun comes out and the individual get tanned, the once hidden tinea versicolor appears I have seen many patients with this and some have needlessly suffered with it for years. There are simple and effective natural treatments which, when followed properly, typically result in a very very happy individual.

We have all heard that Tea Tree Oil works wonders as a natural Tinea versicolor treatment. Did you know that applying that much tea tree oil to your skin can be toxic? Do you realize that there are some not-so-healthy ways to extract the tea tree oil? If you do decide to use tea tree oil, which I do not recommend, please please dilute it with olive oil and choose a steam-distilled tea tree oil. Many companies do not state if it there tea tree oil is steam distilled or if they used harsh toxic solvents.

We have heard of many recommending Selsun Blue as a tinea versicolor treatment; however that does not work for many either as it does not contain enough of the active ingredient.

What does work, and has been used as a natural treatment for centuries, is topical sulfur mud. Sulfur is a natural anti-fungal agent which when applied to the skin of these patients for two weeks, it all disappears. The skin pigmentation needs to adjust once the tinea versicolor is gone especially if the individual is lighter skinned and tanned. Once the skin pigmentation adjusts, no one will be able to ever tell that individual suffered from this.

Where does one find such sulfur-containing mud?

From under lakes typically. One such sulfur-containing mud is called Saprox and comes from deep beneath a lake in the Czech Republic. Saprox is a natural treatment and has worked successfully on many patients suffering from it. While Saprox works well on the surface, tinea versicolor does not simply appear on everyone's skin now does it?

Why does this appear? That is not entirely known but I have strong ideas about that.

If one's immune system is not up to speed, they are more likely to suffer from fungal infections.

If one consumes a diet high in carbohydrates and sugars, they are more likely to suffer from fungal infections.

If one is under stress, they are more likely to suffer from it as stress increases blood sugar levels.

If one does not get sufficient vitamin D, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, they are more likely to suffer from tinea versicolor. Notice that these are skin nutrients AND immune support nutrients...hmmmmm

Remember this please. The skin is telling you something. Don't simply just rub on something and think that it will go away for good. Change your diet, ensure adequate nutrition and sun exposure, reduce stress and use healthy soaps - and I might add, a shower filter. That is key. And I almost forgot about it.

Why is a chlorine shower filter important for those suffering from tinea versicolor?

Chlorine is a skin irritant. Why?

Because it dries out the skin thereby causing the skin to make more oils in an attempt to rehydrate the skin.

A viscous cycle ensues as chlorine continues to hit the skin in the shower causing the skin to make excess oil.

Excess oil equals an increased likelihood to get skin problems such as acne and tinea versicolor.

Installing a chlorine shower filter stops chlorine from hitting your skin.

Your skin no longer gets very dry using a chlorine shower filter thereby your skin no longer has to produce so much excess oil.

Less excess oil production leads to healthier skin.

That also brings up another point. Use natural soaps. Don't use super highly astringent ones either as you don't want to dry your skin out with those. Use a nice oatmeal soap or something like it. Consider dry skin brushing and a nice rough towel - not those big fluffy ones. Rough up your skin - it likes to breathe.

Between applying the Saprox Natural Antifungal, installing your new chlorine shower filter, changing your diet, increasing your nutrients and using less harsh soaps, yours will be gone for good.

Mark my words. I've seen people get better with this system.

I wish you will as well.

Best,

How should tea tree oil be stored?

If you have bottles of tea tree oil that won't finish within a year, how should you store it? Should it be refrigerated?

Always store in amber container & in a cool dry place. It will not deteriorate

How do I use essential oils for fragrance and/or vapor healing?

I just ordered orange, lavendar, peppermint and tea tree oil.
I do not want to take them internally. I am looking for ideas for baths, adding them to things, how do I vaporize them, how do I use them as scents, how do i use them for cleaning and laundry?

You can add a few drops of essential oils to your bath. Start with 3-5, you can add more. Adding base oil or milk as well is helpful.
You should not 'burn' eo's. Heating them to encourage their dispersion is okay. You can use an inexpensive duftlamp that uses a candle or small light bulb under a dish of water and eo's or a diffusor that uses air flow to disperse the eo's.
I do not suggest that you use essential oils in the laundry. Everyone seems to think that is a great idea, but the truth is that it is a waste of eo's. The detergent removes them from the fabric and you would need to use such a large amount, the cost is prohibitive.
Adding eo's to cleanser is a fine idea. I just make soapy water and add citrus oils or something that is aging that I would not use therapeutically.
You can add eo's to body lotion or oil. Somewhere between 3 and 15% eo's to base material.
You can visit www.eoils.net for ideas as well.
Please read about the contraindications of each eo and educate yourself before application.

I'm 22,active weight lifter, decent shape but looking to bulk up quite a bit.Ive used protein powders/amino acid supplements but im looking for a bit of an increase in results.

Ive looked into MDrive,TBomb etc for a testosterone increaser, but have seen some bad info on increasing testosterone levels via chemical supplements.

What about Tribulus root? If i get it completely natural, would I have any benefits, like increased stamina, energy, sex drive? Some of the online reveiws I read were posted by older men, talking about how it revved up their sex drive, but am I alright to take it,only being 22? ( pleaase dont ask why do I need to..I dont need to take it,or anything for that matter, just a thought)

Are there any side affects, negative aspects to making it a daily supplement? Like when I suddenly stop, say, after 2 months, any withdrawal symptoms, increased estrogen levels, crying,no sex drive etc?
Thank you

There are no side effects to tribulus, however there is no evidence that it will help you build muscle or even increase testosterone. It has been shown to increase sex drive and show small increases in testosterone in older users (at least 30 years of age). You would really be wasting your money on this unless you are looking to up your sex drive. Something you may want to look into however for natural testosterone boost is ZMA, which is the abbreviation for Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate. It has been shown to increase strength and muscle mass with daily supplementation. Of course this still wont compare to the results you will see if using a prohormone or steroid, but again, there are no side effects. I do recommend ZMA to lifters, but I strongly recommend creatine if you havent already tried it and are looking for a boost. If you do opt for the ZMA, be sure NOT to get it at GNC, the "ZMA" they sell is not a true Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate, it is in fact Zinc Magnesium Aspartate, and, though true ZMA does have magnesium in it, GNC's brand uses different, much less effective ratios of the ingredients for muscle growth, and has high levels of sleep aid herbs in it, and is designed specifically to be a sleep aid.

Ginseng is an adaptogen that has been demonstrated to decrease the blood sugar. It has also been shown to decrease the hemoglobin A1C (See: Am J Health-Syst Pharm 59(4):339-347, 2002). The hemoglobin A1C is your sugar control number. For diabetes to be considered in good control, this number should be less than 7%.

The closer the number to 6.5, the better. This number reflects the percentage of your red blood cells attached to sugar. As this number increases over 7, the risk increases for eye disease, including blindness and kidney damage and kidney failure. Diabetes is the number cause for individuals ending up on dialysis. Ginseng has other benefits which include: enhancing and supporting the immune system, adaptation to stress, energy, a sense of well-being, and stamina. Why is this important? Individuals with diabetes, tend to have fatigue or low energy, an immune system that is decreased in strength, and be prone to infections such as yeast, urinary tract, and respiratory infections.

Tunguska Blast is a dietary supplement that I have come across that is rich in plant adaptogens. Adaptogens are herbal or plant substances that help to energize the body and support its systems such as the immune, urinary, digestive and nervous systems. They can also help the body to adapt to physical and mental stress or internal and external stressors. One such adaptogen in Tunguska Blast is a Ginseng called Eleutherococcus Senticosus. Eleutherococcus can also support better oxygen utilization by muscles. Better oxygen utilization makes exercise more efficient and can lead to greater stamina. The more the individual with diabetes exercises, the better the glucose taken up by the muscles and the lower the blood sugar. Regular exercise will lead to better sugar control and a decreased risk for infection, heart disease, kidney disease, eye disease, etc.

Since diabetics are prone to urinary tract infections and digestive system disturbances, other adaptogens in Tunguska Blast may be of benefit since they support vital system functions. Let's consider a few. Rhaponticum Carthamoides can further enhance physical performance by supporting the increase in muscle mass. Sorbus Aucuparia is an adaptogen that can enhance the body's ability to prevent vitamin C deficiency. Glycyrrhiza Uralensis supports the proper functioning of the digestive, urinary, and respiratory systems. Other adaptogens in this supplement are: Licorice root, Chinese Magnolia (Schizandra Chinensis), and Golden root (Rhodiola Rosea).

Before starting any dietary supplement always consult with your health care provider, especially if you are on prescribed medicines such as blood thinners or blood sugar lowering medicines. Supplements help the body to heal itself or adapt to stress. They are not cures or treatments. Be careful of those who hold out supplements as cures or treatments.

Have you ever considered trying green tea for weight loss? The benefits of green tea are numerous, but the main reason many people drink it these days are because it can help to burn fat and boost metabolism. What easier way to lose weight than to drink a weight loss tea? If you know where to look online it's possible to get free trial green tea - this means you get to try it for 1 whole month for free.

What are the benefits of drinking this tea?

Thousands of studies have been conducted on green tea and it's components and not only is it linked with weight loss but also cancer prevention, cognitive enhancement and much more. It is known to increase metabolic rate therefore increasing the amount of calories burned, it may inhibit the fatty acid synthase (which turns carbohydrates into fat) and it works to regulate glucose (slows the rise in blood sugar after eating). Many men and women worldwide have lost significant amounts of weight after drinking green tea regularly.

Where can I get free trial green tea?

There are a number of companies offering a one month supply for free. The easiest way to find these is to do a search using Google or another search engine. Normally all you have to do is fill out a short form on the website with your name and address, and you will probably have to pay a small fee for shipping (no more than $2-$5).

Is there a catch?

No catch - the company hopes to gain a new customer by offering a free trial of their product. If it works and you start to see the benefits in the first month it's likely you'll want to purchase more - if you're not happy with it all you have to do is cancel and you'll never have to pay another cent. It's always advisable to read the terms and condition of any website you're considering ordering from in case there are any terms that you don't agree with.

The bottom line

Trying a green tea free trial is a great idea if you've been considering weight loss tea to shift those pounds before summer. It is an excellent way to boost metabolism and help you burn extra calories without having to exercise (although you can choose to do some light exercise if you wish). A change of diet is recommended if you normally eat alot of junk food (for optimum results) however many people feel that green tea helped stop their normal unhealthy cravings and made them feel cleansed and energetic.

Get The Best Green Tea For Free

If you would like to get a 1 month supply of pills from a reputable company absolutely FREE (just $4.95 shipping and handling) Click Here

Is wulong tea as good for weight loss as it is claimed to be and is it safe to drink when breastfeeding?

I had my beautiful baby girl 25 weeks ago and I am finding it very difficut to lose the weight I gained during my pregnancy.

I used to be a size 6-8 I'm now a 14-16 and I hardly ate anything whilst pregnant cos I was SOOOOOOO sick.

I had no problems losing the pregnancy weight when I had my little boy, is it because I'm older now? I was 24 when I had my son, I'm nearly 33 now.

I read that this wulong tea is amazing I'm willing to give it a try but only if my baby won't be affected by it when I feed her.

I think it is safe, but it has some caffeine in it (about 1/2 as much as black tea) so don't over do it. When I was breastfeeding my daughter she was very sensitive to how much caffeine I drank. I had a grande double latte once when she was three months old. She literally stayed up all night kicking her little legs.

Recent studies have shown the benefit in the regular consumption of flax seeds, which has a positive effect on lowering high cholesterol levels. The main property of flax seeds in this case is that it works in such a manner, that it lowers the amount of cholesterol in the human blood, reducing the triglycerides and the LDL cholesterol. The possibility of cardiovascular diseases appearance is reduced, thus helping the body in this manner.

Three of the main substances contained by the flax seeds are the dietary fibers, essential omega-3 elements and alpha-linolenic acids. Through proper diet the body can assimilate most of these substances, because the human organism does not produce them naturally. Flax has thus a very positive influence, as it helps reduce the probability of heart diseases, lupus or even cancer, as well as contribute to the maintaining a healthy body weight.

Fats are used by the human body for repairing tissues as well as growth, but the exposure to saturated fats is dangerous. These saturated fats enter the body mostly through uncalculated diet. The risks at which the body is exposed because the accumulation of these saturated fats are increased vastly unless a way to decrease unsaturated fats is used. The polyunsaturated fats the flax seeds contain help the body reduce the levels of accumulated fats. They are affordable and can be easily obtained from almost any health food stores or groceries.

The benefits of flax have been discovered a long time ago, and since ancient times we have been consuming it for its role in pain relief and discomfort treatment. Flax is the more beneficial because it has no known side effects or poses other threats for the organism.

Flax has been considered for some time now some sort of a miracle aliment, because it contains high levels of alpha-linolenic acids, essential omega-3 and dietary fibers.

Studies performed over the years have proved flax's efficiency in reducing the LDL cholesterol level, noted for an aid in the treatment of cancer, having antioxidants properties, and helps in the regulation of bowel movements or constipation. It is also beneficial for its properties in lowering the blood level, making the blood platelets less sticky, as well as lowering the triglyceride level in the body.

Because of its medical proven efficiency in so many areas, many foods and other products sold contain flax seeds. Among these foods, there are breads, cookies, many different breakfast treats.

They're edible plants (basil and lentils), and they're growing in organic soil. I don't want to use chemicals because I use them in my food, so what can I use to kill or repel the buggies without hindering the growth of my plants? Thanks in advance for any replies!

You need to let the soil dry out in between watering.

Eating a balanced diet is necessary not only for weight loss but also for good health in general. It helps maintain physical strength, improve energy, the general functioning of the body and maintain healthy weight.

A balanced diet helps boost the immune system, which makes you less prone to illnesses. Right foods can lessen the risk of different diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

A healthy balanced diet should include all the macronutrients in right proportions - carbohydrates, protein and, fats and should consist of five basic food groups that are recommended daily. Just make sure to choose the right alternatives from each group, ones that promote weight loss:

- Foods that are high in fiber are important for good functioning of digestive system. Fiber also helps regulate the blood sugar level. Eat whole grain products instead of their processed alternatives to ensure you receive adequate amount of fiber and nutrients.

- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. It is recommended to have at least five portions of this food group everyday. Avoid overcooking of vegetables to maintain the vitamins and minerals. They are good source of enzymes, vitamins and minerals as well as fiber.

- Dairy products are high in saturated fat. Choose low fat alternatives. The best choice to consume in this group is the low-fat organic yogurt. It contains important probiotic culture necessary for the right functioning of the colon. You can also consume organic butter in moderation. For calcium sources, you can also consume enriched soy milk or rice milk.

- Meat, fish, nuts, lentils, beans are source of protein. Choose lean meats to avoid the saturated fat, consume more fish, skinless chicken and vegetable sources of protein. If you are a vegetarian, make sure to take vitamin B12 supplement.

- Sugar containing foods, including sodas should be avoided completely, if possible. Use organic honey or maple syrup in limited quantities or stevia to sweeten your tea, coffee, etc.

- Eat healthy fats such as organic extra virgin olive oil, organic extra virgin coconut oil, Omega-3 fatty acids.

Choosing right alternatives from each food group will ensure high energy levels, good health and maintenance of ideal weight.

Green tea has been around for many years now, but just until recently has it found it's mark on the western civilization. The benefits of green tea are amazing. It has anti cancer nutrients and it is better than coca cola, coffee or other black teas. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant found in green tea, is at least 100 more times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells and DNA from damage believed to be linked to cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses. This antioxidant has twice the benefits of resveratrol, found in red wine.

Bottled green tea has a lot of sugar so if you make it yourself you have control of how much sugar you put in it. Brewing tea yourself is better than purchasing bottled. The quality and potency is that much more. Decaffeinated brewed green tea contains only 56 milligrams, less than half of the catechins found in an original brew. Flavored brewed green tea has 43 milligrams. Disappointingly, instant green tea has only 12 milligrams.

Here are just a few known health benefits of drinking green tea:

Lowers cholesterol

Aids in weight loss by burning calories

Reduces high blood pressure

Prevents arthritis

Boosts your immune system

Lowers blood sugar

Helps prevent cavities and tooth decay

Slows the aging process

Reduces the risk of heart disease

Reduces the risk of stroke

Lowers the risk of blood clot

You can use either tea bag or dried leaves. It also helps our body to eliminate waste and toxins. This will then promote a prolonged life with less entire body complications.

Have you noticed green tea being an ingredient in facial products? It's a natural antiseptic that relieves itching and swelling. It's great for sunburns, rashes and puffy eyes. You find it in sunblock, lotions, facial cream and the sorts. If you're not applying it to your skin in cream form you could even try the used teabags. Just like you would a cucumber on your puffy eyes. Make two batches and squeeze out the teabags. Wait for them to cool off and apply them to your eyelids. Oolong tea is good for blood circulation and skin.

Green tea may be fine for preventing aging in skin, but will do nothing to help your acne. It has antioxidants which will slow down collagen breakdown, hence it will help to keep skin young looking and delay the onset of wrinkles. The caffeine in tea perks up your skin and tightens it so it does appear for a few hours that the wrinkles are diminished. Green tea helps block sun-triggered skin cancer, whether you drink it or apply it directly to the skin.

I know we can all agree on the health benefits of green tea. It's a beverage that could be enjoyed hot or cold and could be ingested all day long if you wanted to. Our neighbors in the east have enjoyed this beverage for centuries and have prospered from its benefits. Small healthy choices are positive steps towards a happy and healthy life.

I know when you are taking Xanax you are not supposed to take weight loss pills, But since Alli is the first FDA approved weight loss drug, is it safe to take while taking a prescription of Xanax?

Please no spam & real answers only if you know. Thank you.

When they speak of not mixing weight loss medication with Xanax, and other benzodiazepine tranquilizers, the general meaning is not to mix it with sympathetomimetic stimulants Sibutramine - which are what weight loss drugs traditionally are.

Alli is the first over the counter weight loss drug, it's not a sympathetomimetic stimulant, nor is it the first weight loss drug ever. It acts by blocking enzymes in your digestive tract that break apart fat, so it can be absorbed by your body. Without these enzymes, the fat never gets absorbed, and passes out your other end.

So while there is not a specific contraindication, Xanax and most other benzodiazepines are fairly lipid soluble. What this means is that Alli could interfere with the absorption of Xanax - I don't know that this has ever been tested. This isn't particularly dangerous, it just means the Xanax will not work as well. Since Alli is fairly short acting, this could probably be managed by taking them at separate times.

As with anything, check with a genuine, licensed pharmacist, or the doctor prescribing the Xanax.

Here is an easy way of finding the healthiest breads and cereals that you can. Number one, look for the words WHOLE GRAIN. Look at the first two ingredients, if one those two do not say WHOLE GRAIN, put it back! Number 2, look for the FDA-approved health claim that reads "In a low fat diet, whole grain foods may reduce the risk of heart disease and some forms of cancer". That sounds easy enough doesn't it. Now you have no more excuses when you are at the store. You can find healthy breads and cereals for you and your family.

Well, we know how to find whole grain foods, but even at that, there is still discrepancy between how much whole grain should be in the food to make it the healthiest. Look once again at the nutritional statement on the box. There are two things you really want to look for. Fiber grams and Sugar grams. High fiber, low sugar is the best bet. So, what is high fiber, what is low sugar? The FDA will usually only put their mark of approval on foods that are good or excellent sources of fiber. A good source of fiber has 6-10 grams of fiber per serving. An excellent source of fiber has 16 or more grams of fiber per serving. Using this as your guide, you need only to eat 3 servings of an excellent source of fiber, or 6 of the good sources of fiber. As far as sugar goes you should eat foods with 2 grams or less of sugar per serving. The more sugar in the servings, the less fiber that will be in it. The more fiber, the less sugar. Lets look at a new trend General Mills is coming up with. Take the new whole grain, low sugar Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We need to look at both boxes to compare this. Here is the regular cereals stats. 130 Calories, 10 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber. How about the new cereal, 120 calories, 2 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fiber. General mills has done a pretty good job. If you have to eat cinnamon toast crunch, then this will be better than the original. But does it stack up to our new found knowledge? NO! There is hardly any fiber in this cereal to make it a good source of fiber. It would not be considered a good source, or an excellent source. They did manage to make it look better on paper however, or cardboard to be exact. How about one of those healthy cereals? Let's look at Kashi GoLean Crunch. It says seven whole grains, it has 190 calories per serving, 8 grams of fiber and 13 grams of sugar, it also contains 9 grams of protein. When looking at the nutritional facts on the box the first set of ingredients is, whole oats, whole long grain brown rice, whole rye, whole hard red winter wheat, whole triticale, whole buckwheat, whole barley, and sesame seeds. The second item is soy protein concentrate, and the third is evaporated cane juice, followed by brown rice syrup. So we are getting better on our choices here. Even with the high sugar content, which is all natural by the way, they do have whole grains, and multi-grains at that. I am not saying natural sugar is really much better for you , but at least it is not the refined white sugar that we see so often. These natural sugars will still affect your blood sugars, but will take a little longer than refined sugar. Put this cereal next to our new set of standards and how does it stack up? Well, we are doing good on fiber, the added protein is a good addition, sugar however is still above the recommended health benefit. Is it good for you? It is better than even the whole grain low sugar Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but you will need to decide if this is the best you can do.

So, with all this information what should we do? We should try to make the best choices available. If you are afraid that eating healthier will cause you to be slaving away in the kitchen you need to realize that there are so many products out there that are good for you and easy to fix. Take for example the Grinin Grains line. Home made batches of scone mix, pancake mix, waffle mixes, and cereal mixes. These are made in small batches using the whole grain and priding themselves on the healthiness of their product. Breads, cereals, pastas, and even baked goods are beginning to come around and make the change to provide a healthier food choice for your family. Shouldn't you try and do the same?
