Do ion foot baths really work to detox chemicals? Why do the prices vary from $100 to $3000?

Ion therapy uses a special electronic device that generates negatively charged particles. Negative ion therapy has been shown to alleviate symptoms associated with Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Negative ions contain an extra electron, and are created naturally by the sun, wind, and moving water. Such molecules, in high enough concentrations, neutralize odors and make air cleaner. In themselves, they are imperceptible.

Clinical trials of negative air ionization have maximized the dose (or ion flow to the subject) with a grounded wrist strap (for daytime use) or bed sheet (for use during sleep), reducing the flow to other grounded objects in the environment such as radiators, walls and radio/TV.

Introduction to Foot Detox

Foot spa, foot detox is known as Ashiyu in Japan. It is a procedure that soaks the feet in a low hot spring. When the feet get warm, then the whole body will be warm. The whole body will loosen up just like taking a bath in a hot spring.

 The Reality on Foot Detox

Are the benefits of foot detox really true? In fact, there is no medical proof that they remove toxins from the body. Manufacturers claim that the water changes color due to the release of toxic substances through the 2000 pores of the soles of the feet. Toxins from the joints are supposed to turn the water orange or brown, toxins from the kidneys turn the water yellow and if the water turns black water it indicates that the toxins have been released from the liver, gallbladder or bowel. Skeptics claim that the color changes are due to oxidation of the iron in the water.

As a result of experiments done on the water by skeptics some manufacturers now put more emphasis on the "balancing" of "energy" instead of the removal of toxins. There is no doubt that many practitioners really believe they enable the body to release toxins by balancing the body's energies and there are many people who will testify to the fact that their symptoms and health improved after a course of ionic foot detox treatments.

Some doctors who practise live blood analysis have found that there were clear improvements in the blood of people who had been treated with the ionic foot detox. Cells that were preciously clumped together became separate and were able to move freely in a healthy manner.   

Western medicine does not seem to understand energy in the same way as the Chinese. According to Chinese medicine experts, there are spontaneous effect areas in the feet which relate to all parts of the body. Reflexology, the ancient art of treating the body through the feet, is based on this fact . How long will massage therapy school take?

I'm going to take a 700 hour massage therapy course, and I am hoping to complete it in 6-7 months being a full-time student and going to school for the maximum amount of hours per day. Is this possible? I know that a 500 hour course only takes 4 months to complete, but I've heard a lot of people saying that it took them over a year to complete their training. I took a 1000 hour course, full time and completed it in a year. So it may take a little longer than 7 months to finish 700 hour.

Do "Detox Foot Spas" really work, or is the concept nothing more than a bunch of horserasidh?

You put your feet in it, add salt water, and run it for about half an hour. It's supposed to remove toxins from your body through the pores on your feet. One such product, costing around $200, claims the following:

As soon as you see the line about rebalancing your body's "bioenergy" you should know that it's a load of japanese clap.

That being said, it's probably a nice foot massager. If you really want more energy, get a little more sleep and do some cardio every couple of days.
