Our feet is another important area to take care of apart from our face, hands and body. The feet area is easily prone to cuts, dehydration, line, rough surface, corns, skin cracks and joint pain.

Here are some tips you should try to apply daily or at least on alternate days. In the evening, pour some warm water into a basin, spacious enough to place your both foot onto it, amount of water about slightly more than half of the basin.

Add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt, allow to dissolve in the water, then place both foot down. Rest for 20 minutes, you may take a short nap, watch your favorite television program or even have a facial masque on for relaxation and winding down. Another easier way is just by using plain warm water without any other ingredient.

To remove strong feet odor, add a few drops of tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil or lemongrass oil onto a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 20 minute daily instead of using salt. These essential oils contain antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties to overcome feet odor and heavy feet sweating problems.

Tip 1 : Use 5 drops of tea tree oil and ¾ basin of warm water, soak feet for at least 20 minutes. Pat feet dry.(substitute with eucalyptus, peppermint or lemongrass oil).

Tip 2 : Mix 2 drops of tea tree oil, 2 drops of peppermint or eucalyptus oil and 1 drop of lavender oil into ¾ basin of warm water, soak feet for at least 20 minutes. Pat feet dry.

Tip 3 : If you are able to find lemongrass water (found in Asian countries), pour 1 cup of lemongrass water into ½ basin of warm water, soak feet for at least 20 minutes. Pat feet dry.

After any foot soak, remove your both foot from the basin. Dry your feet with a clean towel. Apply some moisturizing foot lotion and put on a pair of clean cotton socks. You may leave the socks on during your sleep or remove the socks when you go to bed, it is your choice.

This two simple routine allow you to recondition your skin, to maintain smooth healthy feet. Just remember this, soak feet to treat, relax or detox and moisturize your feet.

During the weekends or during your break, you can try a DIY refreshing feet treatment to repair and protect the skin at your feet. Skin over is can be easily damage due to wearing different types of shoes or too much walking. A very straight forward treatment, you would suggest that you give it a try.

Apply foot scrub onto feet and gently massage with light and circular movement , concentrating on rough and coarse skin. Rinse the feet with warm water. Pat dry.

Apply refreshing foot masque (try peppermint foot masque) to refresh or rich moisturizing foot masque (any foot masque rich in beauty oil or cocoa butter) onto feet covering your nails. Remember your nails need some conditioning too for easy trimming. Leave the masque on for 15 minutes. Wash the masque away with warm water, not forgetting to clean the nail corners. Pat the feet dry.

Use a foot spray to refresh your feet. Spray a few times onto feet to soothe and relax. Foot sprays are usually very cooling to the skin.

Apply foot lotion or foot cream, massage gently until lotion or cream absorb. You may apply some lotion or cream onto the nails area. Or for simple deep conditioning nail treatment, slightly warm up 1 tsp of olive oil, and gently rub onto each nails.

Wear a pair of thin cotton soaks if you are planning to walk around the house to prevent sticking the foot lotion or cream onto the floor.

Can you use a combination of neem oil and eucalyptus oil to cure scabies?

If this is possible, can you explain what to do?\

Scabies is highly contagious and re-infestation is one of the major problems. To answer your first question, neem and eucalyptus oil are being used very successfully...but only if you are treating (cleaning and disinfecting) your environment at the same time. Neem is a fairly strong oil so using a carrier oil will help "calm" the scent and some other EO's (essential oils) you can use are lemongrass, cedarwood, lavender, cinnamon.
The second question about OTC scabies products that work....don't waste your time and money on head lice products...scabies is not the same. The doctor's prescription of permethrin creams (5%) are poisons and insecticides....most often the side effects are the same as having scabies....rash and itch, and some people even have worse side effects...possible seizures, liver damage, etc.
The biggest thing you can do is treat your bedding (plastic mattress cover) cover your fabric furniture with sheets of plastic and your fabric car seat with plastic or trash bags. You'll "smother" them, the scabies mites have to have a human host in 3 days to survive. Wash sheets, clothing, etc everyday in HOT water and dry on HIGH heat. Heat at 130-140 degrees will kill scabies mites.
You'll want to make sure the neem mix is applied at least twice daily. Neem is a natural contraceptive and will not allow the scabies mites to reproduce..rapidly cutting down their life cycles.

Lavender is the kindest of all the oils and is good for burns, spots, allergies, insect bites, tickly coughs, IBS, actually almost everything!!! Tea Tree is antiseptic, antiviral and great for spots and coughs/colds.

Aromatherapy is one of the best ways to relax yourself, whether through burning oils to accompany meditation, or using it them in a wonderful massage. However, we must be careful with using essential oils as the wrong amount or the wrong mixture can bring about some serious side effects.

Essential oils are highly concentrated liquids used in aromatherapy that can be harmful if not used carefully. However, including aromatherapy and massage in your lifestyle shouldn't really cause undue paranoia or worry. The important thing to remember is to always treat essential oils as medicines. Follow the suggestions given below as well so you can be on your way to calmly and safely enjoying the numerous benefits that aromatherapy offers.

The safety guidelines that you are about to read are not a complete reference for the proper use of essential aromatherapy oils. Use common sense; when in doubt about the oils used on you, always consult a trained aromatherapy practitioner or a physician.

1. Essential oils are flammable. When lighting a burner to heat scented oils, do not leave the room unless the flame is put out. Always keep your burners at a safe distance from curtains, paper and alcoholic substances.

2. Do not apply undiluted essential oils directly on the skin. Some oils are exempted from this; however, only use undiluted oils if you have attained a significant education and sufficient experience with them. Lavender and tea tree oils are cited by a large number of aromatherapy practitioners as being oils that can be safely used undiluted however this should only be done very rarely as some individuals can be severely sensitive. So to be safe, the rule of thumb is to avoid use any undiluted essential oil.

3. Not all essential oils can be used for aromatherapy. Herbal oils from bitter almond, camphor, pennyroyal, onion, wintergreen, horseradish and sassafras are some that should only be used by specially qualified aromatherapy practitioners. Even most practitioners do not use them.

4. With oils, less IS More. Follow directions in home kits. Usually, the smallest amount of essential oils required will get the job done. If the label says use only a drop, for example, don't use more.

5. Children should never use essential oils without the presence of an adult who is knowledgeable about their use. Children are often attracted to essential oils because of their wonderful smells. Some oils smell like food (like vanilla) and citrus oils can smell like something safe to drink. Always keep essential oils away from the reach or children. Again, remember to treat these oils like medicines that are poison in ignorant hands.

6. If you are pregnant, or suspect you are, it is safer to avoid essential oils. Asthma sufferers, as well as epileptics, should not use essential oils. People with other health conditions, such as allergies, should also consult a physician because some essential oils can cause sensitization or severe allergic reactions. If you are using a new oil for first time, do a skin patch first on a small area of skin, like the inner arm. Apply a small amount of the diluted essential oil (again, never use essential oils undiluted on the skin) on the inner arm and apply a bandage on it. Wait 24 hours and check if there is any form of skin reaction. Even if a common essential oil is not known to cause skin irritation, this step should not be overlooked. An oil may not irritate you, but it may still irritate someone else. It is important that you always keep that difference in mind.

7. Essential oils should not be swallowed or ingested. Essential oils should only be taken internally if you have received a detailed consultation and a prescription from a trained and qualified aromatherapy practitioner with the knowledge of your physician.

I live on a ranch in Montana and have had three different dogs get sprayed over the last 30 years. Needless to say I always keep Tomato Juice around for the middle of the night episodes. Also seems the dogs only get sprayed once in their lifetime and they learn to keep their distance.
Depending on the size of the dog, I've done a Rottweiler, Red Healer, Lhasa and I used two to three LARGE cans of Tomato Juice each time, making sure they were completely covered, rubbed it in good and let it set awhile. Looked like I'd try to murder my dog. There was usually still a hint of smell when they dried but luckily they live outside during the day.

Wipe solutions are so easy to make and can save you money too! Use them for cleaning sticky hands and messy faces as well as dirty bottoms. Unlike commercial wipes, these recipes don't contain alcohol or chemicals, and they smell good. Use these recipes on cloth wipes or make your own disposable wipes and save even more money! To make disposable wipes, cut high quality paper towels in half, or leave whole for full-size wipes.

Common Cloth Wipe Solution Ingredients:

Many wipe solution recipes contain similar main ingredients, which are used for the same reason in each recipe. These are the common ingredients and why they're included:

• Oil: Helps the wipe glide across baby's skin and keeps skin soft
• Soap: Cleanses by removing all traces of urine and feces
• EO: (Essential Oil) Added for antibacterial and/or aromatherapy purposes.
• Water: The main ingredient in each recipe, cleanses the diaper area and dilutes the other ingredients

The type and amounts of oil, soap, EO and water that goes into a recipe is what gives each cloth wipe solution it's own distinct "personality". Have fun trying different recipes until you find the ones that you like best!

How to Use Cloth Wipe Solutions

When mixing solutions it works best to start with oil and end with water. The oil will coat your measuring tools so the soap slips right off. Be sure to add the water slowly or you'll end up with a ton of bubbles! Most of the time it's easiest to gently mix the wipe solution in a bottle with a cover, then pour it into the storage container.

There are many different ways to store and apply wipe solutions to your wipes, try a few of the following ideas to find the one that works best for your family. You may discover that one system works great at home and another works great away from home. Here's some ideas to get you started:

• Use a spray bottle to spritz baby's bottom or the wipes. (For baby's comfort we prefer spraying the wipes)
• Use a bottle with a pull-up spout (like on bottled-water bottles) to dribble solution onto the wipes.
• Warm solution and place in an insulated container to provide warm wipes for baby.
• Place the solution into a commercial baby wipes container and dip wipes into the solution.
• Place cloth wipes in a commercial baby wipes container and pour wipes solution over wipes.
• A commercial baby wipes container can be placed in a wipes warmer to provide cozy warm wipes for baby.

Don't store solution or wet wipes for a long time because they can become musty and the wet wipes may even grow mildew - ewww! Check your solution and wet wipes daily, and mix smaller batches of solution frequently instead of large batches less often to avoid mustiness. We mix fresh solution once a week, store it in a bottled-water bottle, and have not had any problems with mustiness.

Cloth Wipe Solution Recipes

Almond 'n' Chamomile

Steep the tea bags in the hot water then add the oil.

2 chamomile tea bags

2 teaspoons almond oil

2 cups hot water

Anti-Fungal

Omit vinegar if baby has a raw rash.

1/4 cup white vinegar

1 tablespoon calendula oil

Rose, sandalwood and tea tree oil are popularly used essential oils with natural healing properties. They are used in treating number of common ailments.

1. Rose

This is one of the most expensive essential oils and is most used for its beautiful fragrance. It is an excellent anti-depressant and very calming on the nervous system.

Rose essential oil is helpful for:

1. Depression: Inhale, or use in carrier oil to massage the chest, neck and face.

2. Dehydrated, mature skin: Blend with sweet almond oil and massage the face and neck, or add a few drops to your night cream. Use rosewater as a skin freshener.

3. Insomnia: Put a few drops on your pillow, or dab a little under your nose before retiring.

4. Irregular periods: Mix in carrier oil and massage the abdomen and lower back daily.

2. Sandalwood

This oil is distilled from the sandalwood tree and has lovely fragrance. Sandalwood is a parasitic tree: it buries its roots in the roots of other trees. Sandalwood is often an ingredient of incense.

Sandalwood essential oil is helpful for:

1. Dry cough: Inhale, mix in carrier oil and massage into the chest and throat.

2. Itchy, dry skin: Add to your bath or use mixed in carrier oil. (Avocado or wheat germ oils are very nourishing)

3. Nausea, vomiting: Mix in carrier oil and gently massage the stomach or inhale.

4. Stress, tension: Inhale, use in the bath or in a burner. Can aid sleep.

3. Tea tree

The tea tree is native to Australia and the oil is distilled from the leaves. This oil is an excellent antiseptic, 12 to 15 times more potent than carbolic. When applied neat to a cut, its antiseptic potency doubles! Keep this one in your first aid box.

Tea tree essential oil is helpful for:

1. Athlete's foot: Add six drops to a large bowl of warm water and soak feet for 15 minutes. Repeat daily.

2. Boils, spots: Apply neat to the boil or spot using a cotton bud.

3. Cuts: Bath with neat oil.

4. Sore throat: Dilute five drops in a glass of water and gargle three times a day.

5. Thrush: Add six drops to your bath. Also, blend in carrier oil and massage the abdomen regularly.

Tinea versicolor is light white so in the winter and fall, no one can really see it.. However, when the sun comes out and the individual get tanned, the once hidden tinea versicolor appears I have seen many patients with this and some have needlessly suffered with it for years. There are simple and effective natural treatments which, when followed properly, typically result in a very very happy individual.

We have all heard that Tea Tree Oil works wonders as a natural Tinea versicolor treatment. Did you know that applying that much tea tree oil to your skin can be toxic? Do you realize that there are some not-so-healthy ways to extract the tea tree oil? If you do decide to use tea tree oil, which I do not recommend, please please dilute it with olive oil and choose a steam-distilled tea tree oil. Many companies do not state if it there tea tree oil is steam distilled or if they used harsh toxic solvents.

We have heard of many recommending Selsun Blue as a tinea versicolor treatment; however that does not work for many either as it does not contain enough of the active ingredient.

What does work, and has been used as a natural treatment for centuries, is topical sulfur mud. Sulfur is a natural anti-fungal agent which when applied to the skin of these patients for two weeks, it all disappears. The skin pigmentation needs to adjust once the tinea versicolor is gone especially if the individual is lighter skinned and tanned. Once the skin pigmentation adjusts, no one will be able to ever tell that individual suffered from this.

Where does one find such sulfur-containing mud?

From under lakes typically. One such sulfur-containing mud is called Saprox and comes from deep beneath a lake in the Czech Republic. Saprox is a natural treatment and has worked successfully on many patients suffering from it. While Saprox works well on the surface, tinea versicolor does not simply appear on everyone's skin now does it?

Why does this appear? That is not entirely known but I have strong ideas about that.

• If one's immune system is not up to speed, they are more likely to suffer from fungal infections.
• If one consumes a diet high in carbohydrates and sugars, they are more likely to suffer from fungal infections.
• If one is under stress, they are more likely to suffer from it as stress increases blood sugar levels.
• If one does not get sufficient vitamin D, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, they are more likely to suffer from tinea versicolor. Notice that these are skin nutrients AND immune support nutrients...hmmmmm

Remember this please. The skin is telling you something. Don't simply just rub on something and think that it will go away for good. Change your diet, ensure adequate nutrition and sun exposure, reduce stress and use healthy soaps - and I might add, a shower filter. That is key. And I almost forgot about it.

Why is a chlorine shower filter important for those suffering from tinea versicolor?

• Chlorine is a skin irritant. Why?
• Because it dries out the skin thereby causing the skin to make more oils in an attempt to rehydrate the skin.
• A viscous cycle ensues as chlorine continues to hit the skin in the shower causing the skin to make excess oil.
• Excess oil equals an increased likelihood to get skin problems such as acne and tinea versicolor.
• Installing a chlorine shower filter stops chlorine from hitting your skin.
• Your skin no longer gets very dry using a chlorine shower filter thereby your skin no longer has to produce so much excess oil.
• Less excess oil production leads to healthier skin.

That also brings up another point. Use natural soaps. Don't use super highly astringent ones either as you don't want to dry your skin out with those. Use a nice oatmeal soap or something like it. Consider dry skin brushing and a nice rough towel - not those big fluffy ones. Rough up your skin - it likes to breathe.

Of course an additional benefit is that scalp massage can be intensely soothing and pleasurable.  In this article we'll discuss some scalp massage techniques as well as some other scalp massage tips for getting the most out it.

Common Scalp Problems

o Various skin problems resulting in itchy, dry, flaky, and possibly inflamed skin.

o Various hair problems resulting in dry, thinning, or falling out hair.

Naturally for any serious issue, particularly skin issues, you need to consult a health care professional, but here we will discuss scalp massage techniques that can be done for the maintenance of scalp health, and techniques that may relieve or assist in the treatment of various scalp problems.

For the best results you should have your scalp massaged regularly, even daily, which is why everyone should learn how to give a great effective self administered scalp massage.  It not only feels great, it enhances scalp health by improving circulation to the scalp area. This will eventually lead to shinier, healthier hair.  You can also incorporate scalp massage oil which can benefit both your hair and skin.

Scalp Massage Techniques so YOU Can Become a Great Scalp Massager

o First decide if you want to use a scalp massage oil. Choose an oil such as sweet almond oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil as a base. Then, select an appropriate essential oil for its therapeutic benefit. For example, lavender and tea tree oil for dandruff, peppermint and rosemary oil for hair loss, and rose and chamomile oil for excessive dryness. For each tablespoon of base oil, add two drops of essential oil.

o Next is to brush your hair. This is to de-tangle the hair and remove loose flakes of the skin. If comfortable, bend from the waist and brush your hair upside-down to increase circulation to the scalp.

o Now you're ready to begin.  It's beneficial to massage the scalp while upside-down to increase blood flow to the scalp. This can be done by bending at the waist if comfortable, or lying face up on the bed with your head over the edge and pointing to the floor.

o Dip your finger tips into the oil and begin at the hairline, massaging with small circular motions, slowly working your way back over the entire scalp. Add more oil to your finger tips when necessary.

o You can do this for as long as you are comfortable to continue.  Be sure to apply enough pressure so you feel the skin moving over the skull, and not just glide your fingertips over your skin.

o When finished, warm a dry towel in the microwave and place it on your head. Let the oil set and absorb into the scalp for ten minutes or more.

o Finally, shampoo and condition.  Get in the habit of giving a good scalp massage while shampooing and conditioning as well.

o If your scalp is extremely dry, you can leave the oil in overnight and wash out the next morning.

Make a habit of applying these scalp massage techniques once per week.  You will notice you hair grow healthier over time and your scalp will 'feel' rejuvenated.  Vary the essential oils you use to see which gives you the best results and experience.  Be cautious of possible allergic reactions to some essential oils, and check with a professional massage therapist or aromatherapist to see if a particular oil is appropriate if you are pregnant or nursing.

To supplement your weekly 'full' scalp massage incorporating the use of scalp massage oil, get in a daily habit of massaging your scalp while in the shower, watching TV, or even walking around.  You will become a skilled scalp massager and reap the benefits of a rejuvenated and healthy scalp.
